Prepare for a visual feast as we announce the winners of the esteemed Pentawards 2023, a celebration of the pinnacle in packaging design.
In an exciting collaboration, Pentawards joined forces with Pantone to introduce a Special Award for the best use of colour.
This addition stemmed from Pantone’s feature in the Pentawards’ Trends Report of 2021. Noteworthy winners utilized colour innovatively, disrupting markets with purposeful packaging design. Studio Tumpić/Prenc’s Istriana bottle design, inspired by Roman containers and adorned with bold colours from Istrian earth, was a standout.
Key trends identified by the jury included statement designs promoting recycling, innovative use of paper for eco-friendly unboxing experiences, and packaging elements with a purpose and positive impact. In addition to Platinum Awards, Special Awards recognised remarkable achievements.
The Diamond Award, Pentawards’ highest honour, was awarded to Auge Design for Casa Marrazzo 1934. This design captured a brand’s nostalgic essence through sophisticated and warm illustrations on clear glass jars.
Auge Design earned Design Agency of The Year, and Bosai Gift by Drawrope won the Design With Purpose Award. Elisava Barcelona School of Design and Engineering was named Educator of The Year, and the NXT-GEN Best Student Work went to Muety, Yun Zhu from the Kuwasawa Design School in Japan.
